Kepos Street Kitchen
Thursday, August 22, 2013 | Posted by CalvinTCQ ♣ | 0 footsteps ♠

Kepos Street Kitchen is this little cafe located in Redfern.
The dish that caught my attention was their Shakshuka!

Shakshuka is a Tunisian dish made of eggs poached in a sauce of tomatoes, chili peppers, onions & cumin.
Never tried this before, so I was really keen on trying it for the first time.

Soft Baked Eggs & Tomato Shakshuka w/ coriander tahini & sourdough ($15)

The verdict? It's pretty good.
Though it didn't wow me, it was certainly worth trying.
You can definitely taste flavours from the middle east in that bowl.
Also, it's quite a light dish as there wasn't any form of meat.

Other than the shakshuka, my friend and I also ordered their squid ink risotto to share.

Squid Ink Risotto w/ sautéed cuttlefish, tomato and zhoug ($23)

This was quite yummy!
I always love a good squid ink risotto :D
However, the issue that I had is that the portion is just way too little.
And I'm considered to be a small eater!
For the price tag of $23 in a brunch cafe, I would expect to be served something that would make me full.

That being said, hats off for serving it in a pan :)
I know it's just a minor thing,
But it's little touches like this that makes the dining experience so much more interesting.

Give Kepos Street Kitchen a try.
They do not have one single speciality,
So do try ordering something different from their menu,
And you just might be pleasantly surprised :)
